The Holidays!

The holidays are simply an excuse to buy stuff! and the stuff is really cheap this year! Saks was so much fun to shop at and I had a blast just yanking stuff off the sale rack. I picked up a MM6 jacket (that will indubitably make me look like a hipster), an Alexander Wang mini pencil skirt, and a lovely fitted navy blue double breasted blazer from Rag&Bone. I also bought from places elsewhere some Prada pumps, slingbacks, and a cheap H&M shirt.
Here's an outfit I wore to a Christmas dinner:Sorry the image is blurry/small. I need an actual point and shoot camera. I hate the new iPhone cameras. I'm wearing a TSE cardigan, Stella McCartney necklace, T by Alexander Wang navy striped tee (which is sold out everywhere and is going on eBay for like 60 bucks over what I paid for!!!), BCBG pleated skirt, and a pair of lovely Valentino pumps (in patent black). I think I was losing some weight by the time I took the picture, only to gain it back the day after. My hair is flat as always and my face was obviously not ready for the shot. Oh wells.
I also bought a new pair of YSL Tribute Sandals (FINALLY) on eBay. They're chocolate brown and only 105cm tall, which is absolutely perfect! I had it authenticated and she claims she's a frequent tPf user. People are always stunned about me just buying shoes online. Again, I just don't have the time to search sometimes.
My shoe collection is coming along great, but I probably have to grow it in secret. My mother is about to snap my neck if I buy another pair. Too bad I can't wear the shoes in this horrid weather. I'm just constantly wearing either my Frye boots or Michael Kors rain boots. I'm trying to abstain from wearing uggs as much as I can. I wish it would be spring again! I just want to wear a skirt without freezing to death.

YSL's New It Bag

I moved into NYU and really the East Coast. Things are a little bit strange here: people use 'mad' as an adverb (I still say 'hella' from time to time), everybody tries to dress either really nice or fail in self-expression, and everybody carries an ugly nylon Longchamp travel tote. Well I almost got one at Saks (on flipping gorgeous fifth avenue) and fortunately Saks was closing at the time and I quickly changed my mind. But I have my eye on the YSL Roady ever since I saw it in the YSL F09 campaign: it has the practicality (being light and bag enough to hold my books) of a Longchamp bag but I love all the details of it. The bag is a slouched hobo bag but it still has a lot of structure to it (perfect to hold my books) and I love the silver hardware. I'm going to hold out on getting one because I heard the Saks Friends and Family discount is coming soon (but I doubt it will include YSL) or I can get it right now since there are quad points at Saks. But again, I am slightly broke after getting my mom a birthday present from Louis Vuitton. Where is that rich boyfriend when you need one?

List of Wants #2

1. Pale Pink Lanvin Flats:
Lanvin Flats were kind of the thing in 2oo6, but now I guess people don't feel like spending 500+ dollars on a plain pair of flats. But I DO. So very much. But I am broke after buying another Balenciaga Bag...
I stumbled upon these pale pink flats on barneys.com (all neiman marcus, saks, and barneys have awesome designer sales online) and I thought they would be absolutely perfect for fall. I love that grey is again the 'it' color for fall and to mix a pastel, like pale pink, with grey would be perfect. I can picture wearing the flats with my Rag & Bone jeans with a chunky grey cowl neck sweater.

2. Proenza Schouler PS1 Medium Suede Gray:

I thought I would never have wanted a suede bag. I had a pair of suede shoes before and it got dirty and disgusting within weeks. But I love this bag ever since looking at it on purseblog.com and it looks so cool. It seems like the perfect satchel and I'm thinking gray would look awesome in fall. But again, I have no money as one of these bags cost $1600.

3. Bamford Floral Corsage Taffeta Top

I've been checking out this site theoutnet.com constantly since it opened (by net-a-porter.com) and I'm obsessing over this top. It reminds me of what I don't know, Carrie Bradshaw would wear (probably with added color) because of the flowers embedded to the top shoulder area. It's really sweet-looking and I think perfect for work. The price is outrageous since it originally cost $995 for it but theoutnet, suggested by its name, sells discounted goods only from net-a-porter.com. It's a very smart move on behalf of net-a-porter, making the site a lot more classy by completely removing sale items and making sale items easy to browse through. I love net-a-porter because they have quirky stylized outfits (making it easy to do add-on sales) and I love browsing through them.

4. Chloe Paraty Medium Satchel in Milk

I saw this bag in a Chloe SS09 campaign ad and I loved the look of how relaxed and easy the bag seemed to look. I'll just keep wishing for one of these since it'll cost me $1895 at Saks.

5. YSL Over-The-Knee Boots

I don't know if I would be the right person to wear over the knee boots since my proportions and height are lacking to properly wear these but I love the design. I don't know if I'll ever wear these since my affinity for heels are only appropriate for heels under 4.5" tall. But I've been browsing through these over the knee boots and this one seems perfect. I love the front futuristic looking stitching (reminds me Balenciaga) and the buckle on the side tops it nicely. Costs $1745 at Saks.

Topshop + eBay

One of the reasons I'm so excited to go to New York for is that I finally get to shop at Topshop and Zara. In Seattle, the shopping is dreadful as the only places worthy of shopping are at Nordstrom's, Barneys CO-OP, and various small vintage shops (which I do not get the chance to shop at often). Everything I own now basically has been ordered online as I cannot drive and I just like how organized everything is on websites (I do not shop at websites that are messy REVOLVECLOTHING.COM!). I am also a notorious eBay shopper and seller. I just bought a dress from Topshop on eBay (Topshop's website is soooo expensive due to shipping) and I really adore it. My favorite formula for an outfit is a cute print dress with a cropped blazer. It works well with my proportions I guess. Mind you I gained probably 10 pounds this summer and my calves are the only thing intact.

Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale!

Jimmy Choo "Mary" Sunglasses (Got it for such a steal and it oddly flattered my round heart-shaped face)

Dolce&Gabbana "Miss Urbanette" Satchel
(Much more beautiful in person and in my hands, instead of my mom's, who is hogging this bag at the moment)

Devon Aoki + Alberta Ferretti

Alberta Ferretti's chiffon gown (worn by Devon Aoki to this year's Cannes) is the most gorgeous dress I've ever seen. The draping is just perfect and makes the 5'6" model look like she's 6 feet tall. But I just love the color of the dress and the bust is so beautifully done. My mouth seriously dropped when I saw this.
Although Ferretti's designs are not my top favorites, I like the way she can drape chiffon just so well.
More Alberta Ferretti Stuff from Spring RTW because I didn't like the Fall collection as much.
Mixture between Grecian (Top) and Jazz Age (Fringe)?

Oh and I'm possibly returning the Sam Edelman sandals because they smell funny like bad leather funny :(

Sam Edelman Sandals

I finally gave into getting gladiator-like shoes, but instead of flats, I got a 4" pair of beautiful Sam Edelman wedge-like shoes that will work wonderfully with my fattening calves. I needed a pair of summer shoes and I'm happy I found a pair that will survive if the gladiator trend/fad ever dies out. Urbanoutfitters now has a 15% off deal (use coupon: summer15) so have fun!

New Brands to Love :)

I haven't written anything in a while. I might as well go put down my new splurges.

I recently found two new (well not new) brands that I like very much. Elizabeth & James (the pet project of the Olsen twins) and Opening Ceremony (a favorite of M.I.A., who has been voted one of Vogue's top ten best dressed!)

I spent too much money recently, ironically buying things at 40-70% off.
Favorite Purchases of the last two months:

1. Elizabeth and James Corset Pencil Skirt
I was always so and so with the way the Olsen girls dressed (MK>A). But I love their designs because they flatter more of the shorter girls and also the line is very menswear with iono, some hint of bohemian chic. I'm going to love this skirt (with a zipper up in front), but I love the tailoring more, with curves on the side to hopefully boost my non existant curves. The other stuff from Elizabeth and James needs a little bit more work on the tailoring and focus, but I'm pretty much in love with the skirt.
2. Opening Ceremony Patent Oxfords
I've been yearning for a pair of oxfords for a while (since last fall?) and I thought these were gorgeous when I saw them at eluxury for almost 70% off (since eluxury, owned by the people who own Louis Vuiton, is closing probably around June, one might want to visit because they have a lot of additional off sales! It's a wonderful website, but it's going to change somewhat to the likes of style.com according to LVHM). I love the details on them. There's also a pair of cut-out suede oxfords for a lot cheaper (and they're realllly cool), but suede and Washington do not mix well.
3. Development Vest
I really just like the cut of this vest.
4. Rag & Bone Big Collar Silk Shirt
I love Rag & Bone and I finally own something from them! I plan to wear it with a pencil skirt or really skinny ankle jeans.

Unfortunately, I have been scouting eBay for some cheap UrbanOutfitters/H&M/Free People tunics/dresses for Spring. All my stuff is Fall stuff. I need to get some romantic blouses/florals/lace. Blah.

Signed up for NYU housing. :)))) Goodbye to 12000 a year. :(((((

Unfortunately, it seems a lot of people from my high school will be joining me to go to NYU.

This post seems to be all over the place and I don't have pictures yet. I'll put them up later.

Things I will never have and will always have not:
Gucci New Jackie Large Hobo in Black/Coral ($3100)
OOO I might get a pair of Louboutins pretty soon!!!

Balenciaga, LnA, Conzie

I'm sooo freaking happy right now. I going to get my first Balenciaga bag. I'll probably bring it to school as a reg. tote but I'm a little hesitant to bring it to school. I'm seriously sick of American Apparel and want to get rid of my AA tote I lag around. Also, a lot of people at school probably don't know what Balenciaga is (they rather keep their fake Chanels and real Coaches, which aren't much different in terms of quality and may I say prestige? shhhhhh). I didn't get the black color shown above, but the Ink color, which is not on balenciaga.com. It's like a really dark navy with purple undertones (like the color of pen ink!), but it'll be neutral enough like a black that it'll go with everything! But I'm on a ban that will last for probably forever. I don't care. I'm truly happy :)

But before that ban was imposed, I did get my hands on a pair of LnA zipper leggings in Flar Navy! I got it for a really good deal at LnAclothing.com (their offical website) and they're going at 50% off everything. It's like American Apparel, but the quality is susposed to be better? I don't know much about them since the only thing I wanted from them was the legging.

Now to put a little substance in my blog. Why do humans count so much on materialistic goods to make them happy, while so many around them are having tough times to put food on their table or finding things to eat? Don't we all want to be humanitarians? But don't we tend to want more in the end?
My definition of substantial thinking obviously doesn't transcends Plato's, but it will do. For me.

Last note: Conan is gone. For 4 months... Why does he have to move to LA when I am moving to NYC next year? Why? The reason I love Conan and none of the other talk show hosts is that his brand of humor is smart and he thinks everyone else watching is smart as him (harvard grad); Letterman's humor is like that but his voice annoys me. The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien will air June 1. I wish him the best of luck.

Frye Boots

I got another pair. :) They're wedges and made of the softest leather, similar to the feel of a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag. I usually don't like wedges but these are short and really comfortable. I have five pairs of fryes and they are always so comfortable (even my 4" tall Andreas).
BUT ONE OF THE BUTTON IS MISSING. Luckily, Frye customer service is really nice and they're sending me extras.

Juxtaposition

I'm going to attempt to make something similar to this Larsen Gray pencil skirt. I have an American Apparel black pencil skirt that I would love to put a zipper through it, not straight, but diagonal (I already have the zipper, so I don't need to spend $260 on this skirt). By placing the zipper diagonally, it will make the zipper seem more noticeable, maybe even cooler somehow. Zippers seem to be the new trend (just look up Marc by Marc Jacob's Strippy Zippy Satchel) as designers love to juxtapose chunky heavy zippers with loose prim and proper Victorian blouses, like this cute rag & bone creation for last fall.

But I don't want to wear skirts just yet since I'm still too lazy to shave. (tmi?) Black skirts are hard to do leggings with, but if I think I can find a good navy or charcoal pair, I'll wear a skirt pretty soon. Especially this one I got for hella cheap:
It's by Rami Kashou (yes, the guy from project runway, who should have won because he was wayyy better than Christian). I found it on maneaterthreads.com, which is a local store in SF that is closing down, so they are having a massive clearance sale. So anyways, I bought this skirt partly because I saw Nicole Richie (even though, she might have her critics, I like her style) wearing something similar, but the one I bought is draped so much better.
I also scored this Mike & Chris Dean Blazer for $49 (originally $250, also from maneaterthreads)I know spring is approaching and I should get brighter colors (I love emerald), but I love the silhouette of this and the soft fleece Mike & Chris is known for; anyways, I much prefer muted colors to garish ones like mustard yellow, which just drowns out an individual. Again, I am spending wayyy too much money in this bad economy.

Oscar Predictions

Seriously, if I didn't consider the probabilities of me actually becoming a film critic, I would love to be a film critic. That would be the most wonderful job in the world. Maybe when I'm 40 and have saved enough money... I don't know how it works, but yes, I would love to take over Ebert and Roeper (however, would Ching be a marketable last name?) Anyways, these are my predictions for the 2009 Oscars:

Frost/Nixon
Milk
The Reader

Ron Howard - Frost/Nixon
Gus Van Sant - Milk

Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler (Win)

Penelope Cruz - Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Would Win)
Viola Davis - Doubt
Taraji P Henson - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Should Win)
Marisa Tomei - The Wrestler

Best supporting actor

Philip Seymour Hoffman - Doubt
Heath Ledger - The Dark Knight (Win)
Michael Shannon - Revolutionary Road

Best animated feature film

LnA Zipper Leggings

I want a pair really badly. However, even on sale at $48 at Tobi.com, I'm hesitant (I hate this economy). They originally go for 98 and some pairs 108 and some celebs have these (Paris Hilton has the slutty silver ones). I love these charcoal ones! I can't wait to pair them up with my Ferragamo pumps and a simple long tunic or tee.

Note: 30% off at Tobi.com (30% off everything until midnight tonight and they sell designer jeans and really cool stuff like Rag & Bone and Mike & Chris so check them out).

Boyfriend Jeans...

Are currently the bane of my existence. Not really. But close enough. A travesty has hit fashion with boyfriend jeans featured in every one of my favorite online shops (shopbop.com, tobi.com). If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at this mess:
I can understand why Katie Holmes would wear these (shhhh... she's crazy) but SPJ????
They do not flatter a woman's figure or highlight an opposite part of the body like regular menswear do (wear a oversized blazer, then black leggings or tights to highlight the legs). Last time I checked, Hollywood was not flooding and celebrities still had really good bodies. Absolutely disgusting. Discuss.

List 1 for the New Year

The recession, along with NYU's 50,000+ tuition, has definitely slowed down my expenditures on clothes; however, that just means my list of wants grows exponentially vast. Hopefully, Barack Obama will not drag out the recession too long (like FDR did) so I can feel less guilty everytime I spend more than a hundred dollars on a piece of clothing. This blog is to list the things I want (but not a wish list as I can never find a person to fulfill them); it is for my record. I post 5 particular items at a time.

1. Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Keepall 55 with Strap/ Monogram Canvas Keepall 55 with Strap

$1270 at Eluxury.com

Since I'm attending NYU in the fall, I want a huge luggage bag. However at more than a thousand dollars, I might just get it at eBay from a MPRS at half the price.

2. Lanvin Flats

$550 at Barneys

I tried a pair and they are soo comfortable... I want an emerald green sort of color, or maybe just black. I'll buy a pair one day... :( But it's pretty ridiculous to spend 550 on a pair of flats...

3. Mike & Chris Anson Hoodie in Glacier White

$220 (once on revolveclothing.com)

I absolutely love this brand. The Anson hoodie was a fall season item so it's no longer in stores, but I always go on eBay to find if there are any on sale... I don't know how they make their fleece so warm yet so soft. I just hate all the abercrombie and american eagle hoodies that are everywhere (actually I don't see them that often anymore) and I'm beginning to think American Apparel hoodies are too commonplace (that's why I don't wear mine anymore). But Mike & Chris (celebrities loves the leather jackets, but who cares what celebrities wear) changes that ugly hoodie look and makes it something really cool and innovative. My two cents. Go google them up to learn more

4. Rag & Bone Calvary Coat

$330 at forwardforward.com

Rag & Bone is another one of my favorite brands, yet whereas I have 3 Mike & Chris hoodies, I don't have any Rag & Bone in my closet yet.... But I love the look and juxtaposition of menswear on a girl. In general, I just want a good elongated blazer, whereas I have too many cropped blazers.

5. Paige Preminum Demin Roxbury Petite in Dark Resin

$179 at Revolveclothing.com

Gah, I want these sooo bad despite the 9 pairs of designer jeans (soon to be 8 hopefully as I want to sell a pair) hanging in my closet. My 7FAM Mercer straights are giving out and I really want a dark pair of skinnys that have a really clean and simple look. Either this pair will do or a pair of Hudson Stellas (although I don't like Hudson or Rock & Republics). I really wanted a new pair of True Religion Billys but True Religion never comes up with a wash as dark...

Items I will never have and will always have not:

Christian Louboutin Miss Tack Pumps and Chloe Paddington Satchel
